Bressers Architecten is a Ghent-based architecture practice with a history dating back to 1864. Today, they intertwine heritage, contemporary architecture and research into projects of lasting value.
That vision is reflected in their new branding: understated, modular and deeply connected to their architectural language. Abstract forms, inspired by historical structures, form the foundation of a visual identity that adapts seamlessly across different media — thoughtful, timeless and human-centered.
A monogram at the core
The foundation of the identity is a monogram. Inspired by historical letterforms, woven patterns and ornamental details from architectural contexts, it translates tradition into a contemporary visual language.
The shapes are rhythmic and abstract, yet remain legible — a symbol that combines structure and refinement. This monogram forms the graphic cornerstone of the entire identity.
A logo that adapts to its context
The logo combines the monogram with a clear typographic element, set in Neue Montreal by Pangram Pangram. Together, they balance architectural subtlety with modern clarity.
Constructed on a four-column grid, the logo is flexible and scalable — suitable for both building signage and digital applications. A system that adapts to its surroundings without losing its essence.
Forms as a visual language
The abstract shapes derived from the logo function not only as letters but also as building blocks for a broader graphic system. They appear as image masks, textures or strong compositional elements in posters and print materials. The result is a distinctive visual language that feels both playful and refined — always in dialogue with the content.
A personal yet no-nonsense website
The website reflects what defines Bressers Architecten: poetry in simplicity. The digital environment focuses on their rich history and contemporary work, free from unnecessary visual noise.
A calm design, enhanced by subtle animations, guides visitors smoothly through the story. No clutter, no excess — just space and rhythm.
Typography with character
For interactive elements, we designed a subtle hover animation built from two static weights of the same type family. Since no variable font was available, we created a custom transition where the letter weight gently shifts on interaction.
This typographic detail reinforces the refined, layered identity of the website — a small gesture with a big brand impact.
