Print as a tangible extension of your brand.

The relevance of print in a digital world.

Print as a tangible extension of your brand.

When you pick up a business card with a luxurious gloss, open a brochure with metallic details, or feel the texture of a product package, something special happens. Before you read a single word, a first impression is already formed. Your senses are activated, your attention is caught, and your brain subconsciously assesses the value of the brand you’re holding.

That is the power of print. And that’s why it is much more than just a carrier of information. It is an extension of your brand.

A lasting impression

In an increasingly digital world, print offers something unique: it is physical, tangible, and memorable. While online communication is fleeting, print lingers. A beautiful package, a premium brochure, or even a simple yet well-chosen business card tells a story about your brand without anyone having to read a single sentence.

The material, weight, texture, and finish all play a role in how your brand is perceived. Professional, luxurious, sustainable, creative, playful, high-end? That impression is not accidental, it is designed.

The basics: the power of the right paper

Before we talk about all the finishing options, every printed piece starts with one element: paper.

The importance of paper choice for your brand identity.

Paper sets the tone of your brand. A heavy, solid cardboard feels luxurious, like you’re holding something exclusive. Uncoated paper has a pleasant, natural texture that conveys authenticity, while satin finishes offer a refined sheen that subtly draws attention.

In this way, paper choice becomes a deliberate, tactile expression of your brand identity, felt from the very first touch.

Sustainability as a brand value

Many brands no longer want to communicate their sustainability vision through words alone, but also through the materials they choose. When you opt for recycled paper, natural textures, or paper stocks where the fibers remain visible, a story emerges. One you can almost touch.

It feels honest, unpolished, and sincere, as if the paper itself is telling something about what your brand stands for. Within that subtle rawness and those natural tones lies a sense of authenticity that strengthens every message. Sustainability then becomes not just a part of your brand, but a feeling people immediately experience when they hold your printed materials.

Color accuracy and paper

For many brands, color is an essential part of their recognizability. That specific shade is what instantly brings your brand to mind whether it appears on packaging, a brochure, or a business card. That’s why every color needs to look exactly right, time after time.

Paper plays a major role in this. Its texture, weight, and coating determine how ink or print tones appear and how vibrant they feel. When combined with offset printing, the right paper ensures colors remain rich, full, and consistent so your visual identity always looks exactly as intended.

Finishing options that elevate your brand

Finishing options give your printed materials that extra touch making them more unique and more eye-catching through the addition of a special finish. It’s the icing on the cake when you want to take your print to the next level.

There are many different techniques available. Here, we take a closer look at the three most commonly used ones.

Spot-UV

Spot UV, also known as spot varnish, is a transparent glossy coating that can be applied to specific areas of your design. Whether it’s a logo you want to highlight, an illustration that catches the light, or a headline that deserves extra attention, you decide exactly where the varnish is applied.

The result is a modern, refined touch: a subtle tactile layer of gloss that gives your printed materials just that little extra touch, without overpowering the design.

Foil printing

Foil printing, like spot-UV varnish, applies a layer to specific areas of your printed piece. In this case, however, the layer is a thin sheet of metallic foil. This foil is available in a wide range of colors, such as gold, silver, copper, or holographic finishes.

The result is a striking and elegant effect that gives your printed materials a luxurious appearance.

Embossing & debossing

This brings us to the final finishing technique: embossing and debossing, also known as relief printing. As the name suggests, this technique creates a tactile difference in height within the paper. The impression can be pressed inward (debossing) or raised outward (embossing). With embossing, the relief sits on top of the surface, while with debossing it is recessed into the paper.

This technique is often applied to logos, initials, or patterns, creating a refined and luxurious look that people won’t easily forget.

Embossing and debossing can also be combined with other techniques, such as foil stamping or, in the case of debossing, with the addition of an ink layer.

Conclusion

Good prints are not an extra, it’s a strategic choice. It’s the part of your brand that people hold, feel, look at, and keep. Every decision, from paper and printing technique to finishing options, starts with one simple question: how do you want people to experience your brand?

When design, material, and finishing options reinforce one another, a true brand experience emerges. Print then becomes a powerful extension of your brand from the very first impression to the smallest detail.
