Design for a good cause

Studio Boiler designs a bottle for HOOOP Gin. Design never starts with just a brand or a product, but always with what the project, company, or team behind it makes possible.

Design for a good cause

For the Lions Club Hoogstraten Markland, the mission was crystal clear: to raise as much money as possible through a special 4.5-liter bottle of HOOOP Gin, with all proceeds going directly to social initiatives. We were happy to support this initiative through Studio Boiler: we provided the artwork for the bottle free of charge.

A botanical world

Our designers drew inspiration for the design from old botanical illustrations and scientific posters. The gin’s ingredients served as the starting point. Plants and herbs such as lemon, basil, cinnamon, savory, yuzu, and rhubarb were incorporated into the design, coming together to form a botanical composition that reflects the drink’s flavor and origins.

The illustrative style gives the whole an almost encyclopedic character, as if the bottle were a fragment from an old natural history atlas.

Hidden stories in the design

You can also spot illustrations of insects among the plants. These have symbolic meaning: the names of the insects refer to the people behind the project and the gin. In this way, the design became not only a botanical study, but also a tribute.

Playing with layers and transparency

For the large 4.5-liter bottle, we used a layered design that takes advantage of the glass’s transparency. The back of the label was printed on both sides, so the image is visible from the outside and also appears through the bottle. As you turn the bottle, you discover new details each time.

A striking element is the red “O” in the word HOOOP. It functions as a kind of viewing window: an opening that draws the eye inward and literally transports the viewer into the botanical world of the design.

Design that gives back

This project perfectly illustrates the importance of high-quality graphic design. Design plays an essential role in this project: not only by making the bottle look beautiful and exclusive, but also as an indispensable part of the story behind the initiative.

By creating the bottle design for free, we were able to apply our expertise to a project that aims to do more than just launch a product. A perfect match with Studio Boiler’s philosophy.

Price psychology: How design influences decisions

Pricing is all about numbers, margins, and strategy. But how a price is presented also influences how it is perceived. And that is exactly where psychology intersects with the work of a graphic designer.

Are custom fonts worth it?

At Studio Boiler, we believe that typography is not just a matter of design. It is an expression of personality. A well-chosen (or rather, self-developed)
